Another hidden gem in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, Silver Creek Conservation Area sprawls across 840 acres near the Fox River in Cary/Crystal Lake. A mixture of wetlands, prairie, savanna, and woodlands, the preserve is dotted with grand oaks and hickories and a quilt of native grasses and wildflowers that change with the seasons.
