Volo Bog State Natural Area
What to expect: Volo Bog is famous becuase it exhiibits all stages of bog succession, and the only bog that still has an open water center surronded by floating mats. This unique habitat brings with it a variety of plant and animal life. We hope to catch the early spring fiddleferns, willows, leatherleaf and marsh marigolds blooms. Expect about a 3.5 mile hike, with the potential of muddy trails.
During the hike, there will be a 15-minute part of the trail that is a silent walk, so that each person can more fully appreciate the sounds of nature.
