Terrain

We are on crushed gravel and a board-walk. This is a relatively flat hike with gentle rolling hills.

Cuba Marsh is a beautiful blend of marsh, woodland, and praire and savanna. The 782 acres has well maintained crushed gravel trails, and Lake County’s longest boadwalk through the marsh. This property has undergone immense restsoration, including Citizen’s Park, now under Barrington Park District that connects to Cuba Marsh. After we complete the hike, we will convene and howl at the Strawberry moon. It is called a Strawberry moon because the Algonquin tribes tied it to the time of ripening strawberries.
