This lovely trail winds along Salt Creek, going through mature woods with beautiful fall colors, especially from maple trees. Along the way, we have the opportunity to visit the Old Graue Mill, which is our state’s only remaining operating waterwheel grist mill. This historic site was also a significant stop on the famous Underground Railroad. Today, it serves as a museum offering fascinating glimpses into Victorian-era living, including an exhibit dedicated to traditional spinning and weaving techniques. This Preserve is 222 acre wildlife haven set within an urban environment.

Discussion Starter Question

Dams were created to control water flow, store water efficiently, and produce energy, all of which brought positive benefits to farmers and local communities. However, despite these advantages, dams have also caused significant negative impacts on fish species by disrupting their natural migration patterns and altering aquatic ecosystems.

What is something you have removed in your life, even though it had benefits, that has given you a greater quality of life?
