A new trail for Trailbound, it is also recognized as one of the top 5 trails by the “Friends of the Forest Preserve.” Our trail begins at Harms Woods and takes us along the scenic North Branch trail into the serene Glenview Woods. Here, we walk along well-established dirt paths that closely follow the North Branch of the Chicago River, then loop further out into the deeper sections of the woods. During the fall season, the trail offers an abundance of color, showcasing mature witch hazel, maples, and oaks, creating a beautiful and peaceful hiking experience.

There is an outhouse at the parking lot.

Discussion Starter Question

Bark is the corky, waterproof layer that protects a tree’s living tissue against disease and external attack. At first glance, it appears the trees have similar looking bark. But taking a closer look, there is great variation in color, thickness, texture, flakes, smoothness, shininess, cracks, thorns, ridges, flakes etc.

What ways do you like to protect yourself?
